Well, Ten Desires has been out for awhile now, and I'll use this blog post to give my first impressions. I'm not going to go into full detail, but
Overall, this isn't going to be one of my favorite Touhou games. I already had a problem with the mechanics from playing the demo, and although some of my concerns were changed between demo and game release, I still don't particularly care for the trance system. Maybe I just hate change, though?
The music in the later stages is a marked improvement from the earlier stages, which I didn't particularly like, so that is one positive change.
I was happy for the reappearance of multiple older characters. I've always wanted that to happen, but I have the feeling it was just a fluke for this game. I suppose we will see.
The new characters... Well I liked Kyouko from the demo, and several of the new characters are interesting, but that extra boss... we'll see. Did we really need Nue 2.0? I already have some good ideas for Arkham Horror Investigator Cards though, so that will be fun.
Scoring system. Bleh. I don't want to hug enemies, and I don't really feel well rewarded for survival.
As I said, first impressions. We'll see what happens after I play for awhile longer, sadly that won't be today.
