	博麗神社。	The Hakurei Shrine
	人里離れ、立ち並ぶ木々の合間に建立するその神社は、 幻想郷を一望できるその景観と、四季に応じて色を変える風光明媚な様で、 神社を訪れる主に人間以外の者の目を楽しませている。	A shrine located away from the Human Village, flanked by rows of trees, visited mostly by non-humans. From there, one could survey all of Gensokyo, enjoying the beauty of the four seasons.
	というのも、 神社と人里の間を結ぶ獣道が人を遠ざけているばかりか、 当の神社もさながら妖怪の溜まり場になっているという噂のせいで、 普通の人間はとても近寄れない状態になっているのだった。	However, due to the long trek to the shrine from the village, and the rumours of youkai constantly gathering at the shrine, it became a place where normal humans did not dare to thread
	そんな訳で、 神社を訪れる人間といったら、総じて妖怪以上に一癖も二癖もあるような厄介な連中であり、 そんな厄介者を相手にする神社の主はさぞかし大変だろう……	Thus, the humans who did visit the shrine tended to be those even more dangerous than youkai. The head of the shrine who has to deal with them must have quite a difficult job...
	なんて事は全く無く、 寧ろそれ以上に三癖くらいありそうな主のおかげで、今日も神社はわりと何事も無くのどかに平和を謳歌しているのであった。	Yet, thanks to the aforementioned head who is perhaps the most dangerous of them all, the shrine today was once again the scene of a peaceful, warm and friendly environment.
	今日も神社を預かる博麗の巫女『博麗 霊夢』は、 暢気にお気楽な日々を、楽しんでいるのでした。 　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　おわり	Today, like every other day, was yet another enjoyable occasion in the life of "Reimu Hakurei". The End.
Reimu Hakurei	「終わらないわよ」	"It's not the end."
	……博麗神社。 周囲を取り囲むように並ぶ若木達が、 その瑞々しい緑色の羽を懸命に伸ばし天の恵みを存分に享受するその下で、 博麗の姓を持つ巫女もまた、竹箒を片手に自然の残滓を堪能していた。	...The Hakurei Shrine. Surrounded by young trees, spreading their beautiful green feathers to the floor. The shrine maiden bearing the Hakurei name stood under their shadows, skillfully sweeping the leaves away.
Reimu Hakurei	「ン～ン～～～ンン～～♪ 　……っとまあ、こんなとこか。 やれやれ、本番が思 　いやられるわね」	"Mmm~~hmm hmm, mmm~~♪ ...Well, this should do it. The real thing is going to start soon, though..."
	掃き集めた落葉を前に、軽くため息をつく。 緑の丘は今でこそなだらかな丘陵だが、月が二巡りもすれば、丘は険しい高山となって彼女の前に立ちはだかるからだ。 本番…… 落葉の季節もそう遠くはない。	She stood in front of the leaves she swept, and sighted. The pile of green was a mere molehill now, but in two months, that molehill would become a mountain. The real thing... the season of falling leaves was not far away.
Reimu Hakurei	「気温が熱いと落葉は少なく、気温が下がると落葉は 　増える。 世の中上手く出来てるわね」	"When the temperature is high, the leaves barely fall, and as the temperature gets lower, the amount of leaves to sweep increases. The world is quite convenient."
？？？	「質量保存の法則ってやつだな」	"That'd be called the 'Law of Conservation of Momentum'."
	霊夢の周囲に影が差し、雲一つ無い晴天から聴きなれた声が降りてきた。	A bright and cheerful voice matching the atmosphere emerged from the area around Reimu.
Reimu Hakurei	「何よそれ」	"What's that supposed to mean?"
？？？	「お前が流す汗の量に変わりは無いって事さ」	"It means ya sweat the same amount no matter the season."
	影はそのまま霊夢の前方に移動し、軽やかな音を立てて境内へと足を下ろした。 黒を基調とした衣装の魔法使い…… 霧雨魔理沙だった。大きな箒を片手に、不敵な笑みを浮かべている。	The person walked straight towards Reimu, her footsteps reverberating lightly. It was a magician in black clothes... Marisa Kirisame. She had a broom in one hand, and a fearless grin on her face.
	彼女のトレードマークである空飛ぶ箒に跨って、彼女は宙を舞う。 別に箒が無くても飛べるはずなのだが、『魔法使いは箒で空を飛ぶもの』という彼女の美学の為、結果として箒が無いと空を飛べない。	The girl could take to the skies using her trademark broom. She did not actually need the broom to fly, but due to her belief that 'witches always use brooms to fly', she was never seen flying without one.
Reimu Hakurei	「あら、私の流す汗は尊くてありがたいものよ？」	"Oh, my sweat is actually a very precious thing and should be appreciated, you know."
Marisa Kirisame	「ほう、それは興味深い話だな」	"Methinks that has a deeper meanin' than you're givin' it."
Reimu Hakurei	「どうして私が毎日落ち葉掃きをしてるか分かる？ 　これはね、神事なの。 箒を掃くのは神様への奉納の 　舞、 集めた落葉は捧げ物、 流れる汗は甘露の見立」	"Do you know why I sweep the fallen leaves everyday? This is a Shinto ritual. The swish of the broom is a dance for the gods, the leaves are offerings..."
Reimu Hakurei	「その様を御覧になって、神様は満足なさる。 そして 　神様に、秋の収穫と豊作を祈るのよ」	"...And the sweat is the nectar of the gods. The gods become satisfied upon viewing such a ritual. They will then bless us with an abundant harvest."
Marisa Kirisame	「へぇ、そいつは知らなかった。 ただ暢気に日々を過 　ごしてるのかと思ってたが、ちゃんと仕事してたん 　だな。 驚いたぜ」	"Heh, I didn't know that. I thought you were just bein' your usual carefree self, but you're actually workin' hard, huh? That's pretty surprising."
Reimu Hakurei	「そう？　私もびっくりしてるわ」	"You think? I'm quite surprised too."
Marisa Kirisame	「どうして」	"Ehh?"
Reimu Hakurei	「たった今の思いつきをあっさり信じてもらった事」	"I'm surprised that you so easily believed what I just came up with on the spot."
Marisa Kirisame	「……死後は安泰だな」	"...You sure have faith in your fate after death, huh?"
	苦笑いを浮かべて、軽く肩を竦める。 とはいっても別に不満があるとかそういう訳ではなく、当意即妙の会話を楽しむのが主目的なので、会話の中身そのものは別に何でもよかった。	With a tiny grin, she shrugged her shoulders. Her words may have sounded unhappy, but their conversations were always for the enjoyment and wit, so the subject never really mattered to either of them.
Reimu Hakurei	「で、今日は何の用？」	"So, what are you here for today?"
Marisa Kirisame	「聞かなきゃ分からないか？」	"Ya shouldn't need to ask, eh?"
Reimu Hakurei	「挨拶の定型句よ。 毎日暇そうでいいわねえ」	"It's just a customary greeting. It must be nice to be so free everyday."
Marisa Kirisame	「暇とは失礼な、これでも忙しい身空なんだ。 いかに 　して暇を潰すかというだな」	"Hey, I'm not exactly free, ya know. I'm busy tryin' to find ways to spend all my free time."
Reimu Hakurei	「何だかひつまぶしが食べたくなったわ。 あんたも一 　緒に来る？」	"I've got a sudden craving for some fish with thyme, actually. Want to come along with me?"
Marisa Kirisame	「暇を食うとは高尚だな。 あの夜雀、人間にも食わせ 　てくれるのか？」	"I guess that's one of the better ways to kill some. I know a certain maid who's really good at recipes with thyme in'em too."
Reimu Hakurei	「さあ」	"You don't say."
	彼女らにとって暇などという時間は存在せず、暇を楽しんでいる限り暇ではない。 だが、日常を楽しんだ後は非日常を懐かしむのが人の常、時には大騒動を起こしてみたくなる事もある。	The girls spent all the free time they had enjoying life as they knew it. But while the usual day was carefree, some unusual days would pop up, where the usual suspects would cause uproars.
	……そして力のある者ほど、そんな幻想郷騒がせな事をしたがるから始末が悪い。 今回の騒動も、そんな妖怪の思い付きから全てが始まった―――――	...And those with strength in Gensokyo would proceed to handle the situation horribly. This time, the incident all began from the plan of a certain youkai...
？？？	「その願い、叶えてしんぜよう～」	"I'll make that wish come true~."
Marisa Kirisame	「ん、なんだ？」	"Hm? Whozzat?"
	魔理沙の背後、拝殿の辺りから声がする。 しかし振り返っても誰もいない、それでも声だけは響いてきた。	The voice came from behind Marisa, roughly at the hall of worship. But there was no one there. Only the echo of the voice and its words remained.
？？？	「私は博麗神社の神様である～。 汝らの暇を解消して 　しんぜよう、だからひつまぶしを供え物として捧げ 　よ～」	"I am the god of Hakurei Shrine~. If you wish for me to solve your problems of free time, procure some dishes with thyme as your offering to me~."
Marisa Kirisame	「何か随分俗っぽい神様だな」	"That's a pretty cheap-minded god."
Reimu Hakurei	「……はぁ」	"...*sigh*"
	霊夢は小さく一つため息をつくと、懐から一本の針を取り出して構えた。 妖怪退治に使われる、退魔用の針だ。 そして本坪鈴の辺り、何も無い宙に向かって投げつけた。	Reimu took out a familiar needle as she sighted. It was an anti-demon needle, used for youkai extermination. With a flick of the wrist, the needle flew in a seemingly aimless direction.
？？？	「いった～～～～～い！」	"Ouuuuuuuch!"
	何やら鈍い音と共に針が空中に突き刺さり、悲鳴が境内に響き渡る。 そして若干の間断の後、空間に亀裂が走り一つの物影が隙間から現れた。	The dull sound of the needle piercing something in the air was accompanied by a cry of pain that echoed throughout the grounds. Eventually, a crack showed itself in the sky, and a shadow emerged from the gap.
	……境界を操る強大な力を持つ妖怪、八雲紫である。	...It was the border-manipulating youkai of enormous power, Yukari Yakumo.
Yukari Yakumo	「随分乱暴ねえ…… 服に穴が開いたらどうするのよ。 　……いたた」	"How violent... You could've ruined my clothes, you know. ...Ow ow..."
	しかめっ面を浮かべて、お尻の辺りに刺さった針を抜く。 服の上から突き刺さっていた筈だが、針を抜いた痕に穴は無かった。	She plucked out the needle from her behind with an unpleasant frown. The needle seemed to have pierced the top of her clothes, but as she removed it, no traces of any damage could be seen.
Reimu Hakurei	「いつからうちの神社の主神になったのよ」	"Since when did you become the main god of the shrine?"
Yukari Yakumo	「あら、私はおはようからお休みまで貴方を見つめ続 　けてるわよ」	"My, why not? I'm always watching over you from the moment you wake up, till the moment you sleep after all."
Reimu Hakurei	「気持ち悪い事言わないでよ。 大体ひつまぶし位自分 　で食べに行くか、子分にお使いさせればいいじゃな 　い」	"Don't say such creepy things. Why don't you go and get your own food yourself, or get your henchmen to get you some instead of asking me?"
Yukari Yakumo	「子分じゃなくて式よ～。 　まあ暇潰しは置いといて、貴方たちはひつまぶしに 　困ってる御様子ですわね？」	"They're not my henchmen, they're shikigami~. Anyway, leaving the eating part aside, you all were wondering how to spend your free time, no?"
Marisa Kirisame	「ああ、確かに困ってるな」	"Well yeah, somethin' like that."
Yukari Yakumo	「そうでしょ～、そこで持ってきましたのはこちら」	"So here~, I've got something that'll fix that problem in no time~!"
Reimu Hakurei	「押し売りなら間に合ってるわ」	"You sound like a door-to-door salesman."
Yukari Yakumo	「まあまあ、最後までお聞きなさい。 そこの貴方、今 　幻想郷で主流のスペルカードルールに、物足りなさ 　を感じた事は無いかしら？」	"Well then, do at least listen to my sales pitch fully. You over there, don't you think the spellcard rules in Gensokyo right now is lacking a little something?"
Marisa Kirisame	「いや別に」	"Hm, well, I..."
Yukari Yakumo	「そうでしょそうでしょ～、 特に貴方の場合、いっつ 　も霊夢に負けて悔しい思いをしてるでしょう」	"Right, there you go~. Especially in your case, since I'm sure you're sore about always losing to Reimu, right?"
Marisa Kirisame	「うるさいな、その内勝ってやるよ」	"Shaddup, I've won a few of those!"
Yukari Yakumo	「そんな貴方に新しい提案！ 　一対一で勝てないなら 　大勢で勝負すればいいじゃない」	"So here's a new proposal for you! If you can't win one-on-one, then why not try fighting in large group battles!?"
	満面の笑みを浮かべながら、周りそっちのけで喋り続ける紫。 しかし、この妖怪の笑顔には必ず裏がある事を知っている二人は、胡散臭そうな顔で紫を見ている。	The smile on Yukari's face kept growing bigger as she went on. However, the two were well aware that something fishy was always hidden behind her smiles, and looked at her suspiciously.
Reimu Hakurei	「何よ、人が折角考案したルールに不満でもあるって 　いうの？」	"What? I thought those rules out so carefully, yet some people still aren't satisfied?"
Yukari Yakumo	「不満なんかないわよ、 寧ろとても素晴らしい、秀逸 　な取り決めだと思うわ。でもね、あるでしょう？」	Oh, they're very happy. In fact, that excellent agreement has worked out wonderfully."
Yukari Yakumo	「どんなに美味しい食べ物だって、毎日毎食ずっと食 　べ続けたらどうなるか……」	"But, you see... No matter how tasty a dish is, if you eat it every single day, what would you think of it then?"
Marisa Kirisame	「そうだな、お味噌は毎日違う方が嬉しいな」	"Yeah, I like my miso to be different everyday."
Reimu Hakurei	「食べさせてもらってるくせに、勝手な事言ってくれ 　るわね」	"If you want it to be different, then stop leeching off me and go make your own."
Yukari Yakumo	「そこで私が考えたのが、スペルカードとはまた違う 　新ルール！ 　言うなれば団体戦用の決闘法ね」	"And that's why I came up with a new set of rules, tailored for team battles!"
	余程自信があるのか何なのか、胸を張って言い切る紫。 止めるべきかとも思ったが、新ルールとやらに関心もあったので、黙って続きを聞く事にする。	Yukari puffed out her chest in pride as she spoke. She then seemingly stopped talking, but instead was waiting for questions about her rules before continuing on.
Reimu Hakurei	「団体戦って、先鋒次鋒とか決めて勝ち抜きでもする 　の？」	"Team battles? Is that like having one person from each team fight another, then the winner stays and the loser is removed from the battle?"
Yukari Yakumo	「いえいえまさか、それじゃあスペルカードルールと 　変わらないでしょ。 私がこれから話すのは、大勢で 　やり合うドンパチよ」	"Of course not, that wouldn't be any different from the current spellcard rules. I'm talking about everyone fighting each other at the same time."
	確かに紫の言う通り、スペルカードルールは一対一の決闘に特化したルールであり、 一対一で戦う事をよしとする妖怪たちの気風も関係して、 複数人数については考慮されていない。	It was true that the spellcard rules were created with one-on-one fights in mind, as Yukari said. It was youkai nature to seek one-on-one battles, so team battles were never taken into consideration.
	紫の考えた新ルールとは、およそこんな感じだった。 一つ、一人の代表を決め、その集団を一勢力とする。 一つ、妖怪や人間等を問わず、誰でも参加できる。 一つ、各勢力は支配地域を持ち、それを奪い合う。	Yukari's new rules went something like this. 1. Choose a leader, and the team becomes an army. 2. Anyone, human, youkai or otherwise, can participate. 3. Armies will have territories to be contested over.
	等々…… 要するに、物凄く規模の大きな陣取り合戦という認識で問題の無さそうなルールだった。 一通り聞き終わって、浮かんだ疑問を矢継ぎ早に紫にぶつける。	And so on... Basically, it could be thought of as a typical strategy game of conquering areas. As soon as Yukari ended her briefing, she was immediately bombarded with questions.
Reimu Hakurei	「代表って何よ？」	"What do you mean by leader?"
Yukari Yakumo	「読んで字の如く、各集団のリーダーね。 リーダーが 　倒されちゃったら、その勢力は負け～」	"Just as it says, really. It'll be the person who leads the group. If the leader retreats from the game, that army has lost~."
Marisa Kirisame	「誰でも参加出来るって、その辺フラフラしてる妖精 　とかでもいいのかよ」	"Anyone can participate? So these unreliable fairies'round here would work too?"
Yukari Yakumo	「ちゃんと戦えて、誰かが統率出来るなら別に構わな 　いわ。 個々の力は大した事無くても、集団戦で力を 　発揮するタイプもいるでしょう」	"I see no problem, as long as they can fight and have someone to lead them. I'm sure there are people who may be weak individually, but strong in a team."
Reimu Hakurei	「支配地域って、例えば私だとこの神社とか？」	"By territories, do you mean something like my shrine?"
Yukari Yakumo	「そうね、大体幻想郷を地域分けした地図を用意した 　から、後で確認するといいわ」	"Indeed. I've prepared a map that divides the areas of Gensokyo into territories. You can look at it later."
	既に地図まで用意してある所といい、とてもやる気満々のようだ。 というか有無を言わさずやるつもりらしい。 ……しかし、一つ大きな問題があった。	The fact that she even prepared a map for it showed how motivated she was. It didn't seem like she would take no for an answer. ...But there was still one major problem.
Reimu Hakurei	「なんか幻想郷中を巻き込む腹積もりのようだけど、 　関係無い人とか興味無い妖怪とかも居るでしょ。 そ 　れはどうするつもりよ」	"You said you wanted to get all of Gensokyo involved, but what about those who don't want to get involved, or don't have any interest in this?"
	当然の疑問であるが、その問いにも紫は考えを巡らせる素振りも見せず、ますます自信ありげな笑みを浮かべるのだった。	It was a natural question given the circumstances, but Yukari's smile only grew wider as she prepared to answer it.
Yukari Yakumo	「勿論、反発する者もいるでしょうね。 だからもう一 　つ、一番大事な事……」	"Of course, there will be those who oppose it. That's why I included something very important as well..."
Yukari Yakumo	「最後まで勝ち残った勢力は、何でも好きな望みを叶 　えられる。 敗者はその為に、出来うる限りの協力を 　しなくてはならない」	"The last army left standing will have any wish they have granted. This will also encourage the defeated to co-operate with their conquerors."
Marisa Kirisame	「ほほお…… そいつは興味深いな」	"Oho... Now that sounds interestin'."
	紫の言葉に魔理沙が早速食いついた。 魔理沙の事だから、頭の中であれこれ自分の望みをシミュレートしているに違いない。 狸の皮算用をするには早すぎるのだが、そういう性分だから仕方が無い。	Marisa's interest perked up at Yukari's words. She was doubtlessly thinking of all the things she would wish for in her mind. It was far too early to count chickens before they hatched, but thus was her nature.
Yukari Yakumo	「みんなお祭り好きだし、ここまですれば話に乗って 　くるでしょう。 どう？　面白そうでしょう？ 　やる？ 　もちろんやるわよね？」	"Everyone loves festivals and parties, so with this incentive, I'm sure everyone will participate. Well? Interesting, isn't it? You'll do it, right?"
	当然やるもの、と決め付けている様子で参加を促す紫。 霊夢はどうしたものかと思案している風だったが、魔理沙の方はもうすっかりその気になっているようだった。	Yukari grinned as if she already knew what the answer was going to be. Reimu seemed to be considering it still, but Marisa had already fallen in love with the idea.
Marisa Kirisame	「私はやるぜ。 欲しい物が沢山あるしな」	"I'll do it. I've got a ton of things I want."
Reimu Hakurei	「それは最後まで勝ち残ったらの話でしょ」	"You should save that talk for it if you actually win."
Marisa Kirisame	「やるからには負けるつもりは無いぜ。 それにお前と 　組めば怖い物無しだ」	"I ain't gonna lose in anything I do. 'Sides, with you and me together, there ain't nothin' that we need to be afraid of."
Reimu Hakurei	「ちょっと、何であんたと私が組む話になってるの 　よ」	"Wait a second, when did this turn into you forming a group with me?"
Marisa Kirisame	「なあ紫、別に組むのは誰とでもいいんだろ？」	"Hey Yukari, I can join up with anyone I want, right?"
Yukari Yakumo	「ええ、別に自由よ」	"Yes, feel free to do as you please."
Marisa Kirisame	「だそうだ、んじゃあよろしくな」	"There we go. Let's do our best, hey!"
Yukari Yakumo	「それじゃあ二人は博麗チームね。 さーて、これから 　私は参加しそうな所に案内を送ってこないと。 　あー忙しい忙しい♪」	"I'll put you two down as the Hakurei team. Now then, I should start informing other places who would likely join as well. Ahh, so busy♪"
Reimu Hakurei	「ちょ、 ちょっと紫、 待ちなさい！」	"Wha? Hey, Yukari, wait!"
	霊夢の静止も空しく、紫は空間に開けた隙間に体を潜らせ消えていった。 境内に元の静けさが戻る。残ったのはニヤニヤと楽しそうな魔理沙と、誰も居なくなった空に向かって手を伸ばす霊夢の姿だった。	Reimu's cries were in vain, as Yukari disappeared into a gap. A calming silence returned to the area. All that remained was Marisa smiling to herself, and Reimu with her hand outstretched into thin air.
Reimu Hakurei	「紫のやつ、いつもはゴロゴロとグータラしてるくせ 　に、こういう事になると途端に張り切りだすんだか 　ら…… もう、面倒臭いわね」	"That Yukari... She's usually so lazy about things, yet she's pumped up for this somehow... Geez, so annoying."
Marisa Kirisame	「ここの所大きな事件も無かった事だし、ちょうどい 　いじゃないか。 美味しそうなひつまぶしだぜ？」	"We ain't had anything major happen for awhile, so this kinda thing sounds great, doncha think? It'll be a tasty way to kill some time."
Reimu Hakurei	「最後まで食べ切れればいいけどね」	"And hopefully we'll be the last ones standing, huh?"
	なし崩し的に始まってしまった、幻想郷中を巻き込んだ陣取り合戦。 果たして二人は、最後まで勝ち残る事が出来るのだろうか……？	And so, the territorial conquest war that would sweep Gensokyo up in its momentum began. Can the two of them really emerge victorious...?
Reimu Hakurei	「ねえ、わざとやられてさっさと終わらせるってのは 　駄目？」	"...I suppose you won't let me purposely lose to get it over with quickly, huh?"
Marisa Kirisame	「駄目」	"Got that right."
Reimu Hakurei	「……やっぱり」	"...*sigh*"

	博麗神社。 昨日までなら、箒を片手に境内を掃き清める霊夢の姿が見られたのだが、紫の気まぐれだかなんだか分からない戯れに巻き込まれた為、そんな気にはなれなかった。	The Hakurei Shrine. Reimu was sweeping the area just like the day before, but in a worse mood thanks to Yukari's whimsical ways.
	まあ今更愚痴っても仕方が無いし、それにこれが紫の起こした人為的な異変というのなら、それを解決するのは博麗の巫女たる霊夢の仕事なので、いつも通り適当に解決する事にした。	But as she thought about it longer, this could be considered an "artificial" incident from Yukari, so it would be the Hakurei Shrine maiden's job to resolve it. It would become one of her normal duties of sorts.
	……という訳で、成り行き上組む事になってしまった魔理沙と、これからについて話し合っているのであった。	...And so, she began her briefing with the other person she grouped with, Marisa.
Reimu Hakurei	「……で、これからどうすればいいのかしら」	"...So, what do we do now?"
Marisa Kirisame	「うーん…… とりあえず、どっかに攻め込めばいいん 　じゃないか？」	"Hmm... I guess we should go attack somewhere?"
Reimu Hakurei	「どっかってどこよ」	"And where would that'somewhere' be?"
	紫から貰った地図を見ると、幻想郷が全部で23の地域に分割されていた。 霊夢たちの拠点となる博麗神社の他には、紅魔館、 白玉楼、 永遠亭 等々…… 錚々たる顔ぶれだ。	On Yukari's map, Gensokyo had been divided into 23 areas. Along with Reimu and co's Hakurei Shrine, there were many others like the SDM, Hakugyokurou, Eientei, and so on.
Marisa Kirisame	「……なあ、こいつらも参加するのか？」	"...Do ya think these guys'll join in?"
	魔理沙がそれぞれの位置を指差して尋ねる。	Marisa started to point at several different places on the map.

	紅魔館のレミリア・スカーレット。 白玉楼の西行寺 幽々子。 永遠亭の蓬莱山 輝夜。 どれも、過去に幻想郷で一悶着起こした曲者揃いだ。	The Scarlet Devil Mansion's Remilia Scarlet. Hakugyokurou's Yuyuko Saigyouji. Eientei's Kaguya Houraisan. All of them had started incidents in Gensokyo's past.
	霊夢達が勝ち残るのに、もっとも大きな障害となる存在である事は間違いないだろう。	If Reimu's group wanted to be the winners, they would have to overcome extremely large obstacles in their way.
Marisa Kirisame	「地図を見る限り、こことは離れてるから当面は問題 　無いだろうが…… 避けては通れないな。 来るべき日 　に備えて、神社の周囲の勢力を吸収すべきだぜ」	"They're pretty far, so they won't be an immediate problem... But they ain't gonna be avoidable. We gotta prepare for them by swalling up nearby armies."
Reimu Hakurei	「……何そのいかにもそれっぽい言動」	"...You're sounding like some kind of strategist now."
Marisa Kirisame	「まず形から入っていかないとな。 それにお前、そう 　いうのは苦手だろ？」	"Can't say I look like one though. 'Sides, you ain't good with that kinda stuff, right?"
Reimu Hakurei	「まあね、面倒臭い事は考えたくないし。 小難しい事 　は任せるわ」	"Uh huh, I don't like thinking about such troublesome matters. I'll leave the finer details to you."
Marisa Kirisame	「ハハー、お任せあれ我が君」	"Ha ha, you can rely on me, young master."
Reimu Hakurei	「……で、これからどうすればいいのかしら。 大体、 　こんな説明書きじゃ分かんないわよ」	"...Anyway, what should we do now? These instructions doesn't really give any clues about that."
	霊夢が不満を垂れながら、手にした数枚の紙をペシペシと叩く。 それは紫から受け取ったこの壮大なゲームの説明書だったが、文字を追うだけではどうにも要領を得ない。	Reimu slapped the several sheets of paper she was holding in disgust. It was the instructions for the game that she received from Yukari, but though it went on and on, it never seemed to get to the point.
Reimu Hakurei	「本人に聞くのが一番早いか。 ……紫、どうせいるん 　でしょ？」	"I guess hearing from the woman herself would be the fastest way to go about it. ...You're there, aren't you?"
	何も無い空に向かって呼びかける。 一瞬の間の後、空間に亀裂が走り、その隙間から紫が姿を現した。	She seemingly called out to nothing at all. A second later, a crack appeared in the atmosphere, and Yukari popped out of the gap.
Yukari Yakumo	「呼ばれた気がするわ」	"I believe I was called."
Reimu Hakurei	「白々しいわね、どうせさっきからそこにいたくせ　 　に」	"Trying to act innocent? I know you've been around for a while now."
Yukari Yakumo	「あ、やっぱりバレてた？ 　おはようからお休みまで 　貴方を見つめ…… ちょっと、針出さない」	"Oops, you spotted me? As I said, I'm always watching over you, from the moment you get up, till... Hey, put that needle away."
Reimu Hakurei	「見てたんなら用件も分かってるわね」	"If you were watching, then I assume you know what I called you here for."
Yukari Yakumo	「はいは～い、一体何が分からないのかしら？」	"Yes yes~, so what exactly don't you know about?"
Reimu Hakurei	「そうね……」	"Well..."
	1・一通り説明を聞く。2・やっぱりいい。	1. Listen to her explanation. 2. Forget about it.

Reimu Hakurei	「こんなんじゃよく分からないわよ、ちゃんと説明し 　て」	"I'm still completely confused. Give me a proper explanation on how this works."
Yukari Yakumo	「それじゃあ、一から説明していくわよ」	"Alright, I'll start from the very beginning."
Yukari Yakumo	「どう、やる気出てきた？」	"Well? Feel up for it now?"
Reimu Hakurei	「……ねえ、地図を見る限りだと、あんたも参加する 　の？」	"...Hey, according to this map... you'll be participating too?"
Yukari Yakumo	「さあ、どうかしらね～♪ 　まあ神社と私の所は正反 　対の位置にあるから、当分は当たらないわよ」	"My, who knows~♪ Well, my location is the furthest possible away from yours, so it's not an issue for you... for now."
Reimu Hakurei	「何としてでもあんたの所まで辿り着いてやるわよ」	"I'll definitely get to where you are somehow."
Yukari Yakumo	「おお怖い怖い、それじゃあ楽しみに待ってるわよ。 　途中で負けちゃ駄目よ～♪」	"Ooh, how scary. In that case, I'll be happily waiting for you. Make sure not to lose on the way♪"
	腹が立ったので針を構えてみせたら、紫の頭上に開いた隙間が閉じ、そのまま体を潜らせて姿を消した。	Before Reimu could ready her needle again, Yukari's dove back into the opened gap and closed it, disappearing from the area.
Marisa Kirisame	「……なーんか、 すっかり掌の上って感じだな」	"...Somehow, it feels like she has ya at her fingertips."
Reimu Hakurei	「まあいいわ、どうせ他の連中は参加してしっちゃか 　めっちゃかしてくれちゃうんだろうし……」	"Well, whatever. I'm sure there are plenty of others who'll be joining that I'll have to deal with first..."
Marisa Kirisame	「解決するのは博麗の巫女たる自分の仕事、ってか」	"Resolution is the job of the Hakurei shrine maiden, huh?"
Reimu Hakurei	「単にムカつくからよ」	"And she just bugs me."
	そう言うと霊夢は、紫の消えていった空を苛立たしげに睨み付けた。 まあやる気を出してくれたんだからいいか…… と暢気に魔理沙はいきり立つ霊夢を眺めているのであった。	Reimu glared at the sky which Yukari vanished into as she muttered. Well, as long as she'd motivated somehow... or so, the carefree Marisa thought as she watched the irritated Reimu.

Reimu Hakurei	「んー…… やっぱりいい」	"Hm... Actually, forget about it."
Yukari Yakumo	「あら、聞かなくても分かってるのかしら？ 　本当に 　大丈夫？ 　今聞かないともう知らないわよ」	"My, you know what to do without asking? Will you really be all right? If you don't ask now, you'll never find out, you know."
Reimu Hakurei	「しつこい」	"So stubborn!"
Yukari Yakumo	「だから針は仕舞って～」	"I said put that needle away~!"
	そう言うと紫は、慌てて出てきた隙間に帰っていった。 隙間の中から声だけが聞こえてくる。	Yukari hurriedly returned through the gap before Reimu could do what she wanted to. Her voice rang out from the gap with one final line.
Yukari Yakumo	「それじゃあ頑張ってね～♪」	"Do your best~♪"
	腹が立ったので針を投げつけてやったが、次の瞬間には隙間が閉じ、針はそのままあらぬ方向へと飛んでいった。	Reimu fired the needle towards the gap in anger, but the gap closed immediately, and the needle simply flew through the sky.
Marisa Kirisame	「……なーんか、すっかり掌の上って感じだな。 それ 　にしても本当にいいのか？　追い返しちまって」	"...Somehow, it feels like she has ya at her fingertips. Are ya really okay with sendin' her away, though?"
Reimu Hakurei	「何とかなるでしょ。 ううん、何とかしてやるわ。 地 　図を見る限りじゃ紫も参加するみたいだし、この手 　で正々堂々と寝首を掻いてやるわ！」	"I bet it'll work out anyway. ...No, I'll make sure it works out. According to this map, she'll be participating, so I'll finally deal with her fair and square!"
Marisa Kirisame	「やれやれ」	"Hoo boy."
	握りこぶしを固め、天に向かって殴りつける霊夢。 まあやる気を出してくれたんだからいいか…… と暢気に魔理沙は、いきり立つ霊夢を眺めているのであった。	Reimu's curled her hand into a fist, and punched the sky with it. Well, as long as she's motivated somehow... or so, the carefree Marisa thought as she watched the irritated Reimu.

	人間の里と神社を繋ぐ道。 ここには様々な妖怪が出没し、人々の往来の妨げとなっている。 それなりに力のある人間なら大した事は無いのだが、そうでない者にとっては命懸けだ。	At the path between the Human Village and the shrine, many youkai appeared frequently, hoping to obstruct humans traveling the path. It wasn't a big deal to strong humans, but a life and death issue for the weak.
	参拝客の減少は神社の御賽銭への直接的な打撃になる為、博麗の巫女は妖怪を見かける度に懲らしめているのだが、 懲りない妖怪達は相変わらずこの道を徘徊し、解決にはなっていない。	This danger decreased the amount of worshippers to the shrine, so the Hakurei shrine maiden attempted to fight that by punishing any youkai she was on the path. But youkai weren't renowned for learning from experience.
	そんな妖怪達の一人であるリグル・ナイトバグが、道の脇で一枚の手紙らしきものを、熱心に食い入るように見つめていた。	And one of those youkai, Wriggle Nightbug, happened upon a scrap of paper along the path. Her eyes practically lit up upon reading it.
Wriggle Nightbug	「これは…… チャンス！　好機到来！」	"This is... This is the chance I've been waiting for! A golden opportunity!"
	酷く興奮した様子で、紙に書かれた文字を一字一字熱心に追っている。 周囲の声にも気づかないほどに。	Now completely enthralled, she read each and every word carefully and excitedly. So much that she didn't even notice a voice calling out to her.
？？？	「ねえ、さっきから何見てんの？」	"Hey, what's that you found?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「虐げられてきた蟲達の、地位向上と名誉挽回の時が 　ついに来たわ……」	"The time has finally come for all the oppressed bugs to stand up, regain their honour and rise up the social ladder..."
？？？	「……ちょっと」	"...You there?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「今時の人間と来たら、蟲を見せ物にするか無益な殺 　生しかしないんだから…… 一寸の蟲にも五分の魂が 　あるってのよ」	"Right now, upon seeing an insect, humans have no other thought but to kill it... But even an insect will turn just like a worm."
？？？	「おーい」	"Heeeey."
Wriggle Nightbug	「今こそ蟲の復権を賭けて立ち上がる時だわ！ 　フッフッフ…… 思い知らせてや」	"This is the chance for bugs to stand up and be counted! Heh heh heh... They'll see, they'll all see..."
？？？	「わっ！」	"Boo!"
Wriggle Nightbug	「うわあぁあ！？」	"Wahhhh!?"
	突然耳元で大きな声が聞こえ、驚いてひっくり返る。 尻餅をつき、一体何なんだという顔で上を見上げるとそこには、夜雀の妖怪ミスティア・ローレライが憮然とした表情でリグルを見下ろしていた。	Wriggle jumped as someone suddenly shouted into her ear. She fell on her rump, then looked up at the perpetrator... and found the night-sparrow youkai Mystia Lorelei looking down at her.
Mystia Lorelei	「ちょっと、そんなに驚かなくてもいいじゃない」	"Geez, you didn't have to get -that- frightened."
Wriggle Nightbug	「二重の意味で驚いたのよ」	"That was scary in two different ways."
Mystia Lorelei	「もう一つは？」	"What was the other way?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「私は美味しくないから食べないで～」	"I'm not tasty, don't eat me~!"
Mystia Lorelei	「人、じゃなかった、妖怪を何だと思ってるのよ。 　もう食べてきたからお腹いっぱい」	"What kind of per... youkai do you think I am? I've already eaten, so my stomach's full."
Wriggle Nightbug	「うわーん」	"Waaaah!"
Mystia Lorelei	「で、一体何をそんなに熱心に見てたの？」	"Anyway, what were you getting all enthusiastic about?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「え、 あ、 うん…… まあこれ、読んでみて」	"Huh? Ah, um... Well, here. Read this."
	そう言うとリグルは立ち上がって、先程まで真剣に読み耽っていた紙をミスティアに渡した。	Wriggle stood up as she spoke, and handed the piece of paper she was reading so seriously over to Mystia.
Mystia Lorelei	「えーと………… 代わりに読んでよ」	"Hmm... Read it for me."
Wriggle Nightbug	「……読めないの？」	"...You can't read?"
Mystia Lorelei	「読まないの」	"I can't read."
Wriggle Nightbug	「もう…… 『第一回幻想郷陣取り合戦・人間妖怪妖精 　その他諸々に至るまで奮って御参加下さい。 優勝グ 　ループは何でも望みを叶えます』」	"Geez... 'Gensokyo War Battle 1: Humans, youkai, fairies and others all welcome to participate. The winning group will have their wishes come true.'"
Mystia Lorelei	「……何それ」	"...What's that supposed to be?"
	その紙とは勿論、紫が配った例のゲームの参加要綱なのだが、何の事だか話の見えないミスティアの隣でリグルが、熱く握り拳を固めている。	The paper was, of course, Yukari's advertisement to get people to join her game. Mystia had no idea what its significance was, but Wriggle was heated up at the idea, balling her hand up into a fist.
Wriggle Nightbug	「つまりこれは、誰からも咎められる事無く人間達を 　襲えるのよ。 あのいつもいつもちょっかい出してく 　る神社の巫女に、一泡吹かせるチャンスだわ」	"In other words, anyone can attack the humans without being blamed. It's a chance to show that meddling shrine maiden from the shrine a real lesson!"
Wriggle Nightbug	「そして最後まで勝ち残って、虐げられてきた蟲達の 　地位向上を成し遂げ、蟲の強さと恐ろしさを改めて 　人間達に分からせてやるのよ！」	"And then we'll be the last group remaining, the oppressed bugs will rise in social status, and humans will once again know the power of bugs!"
Mystia Lorelei	「おお、何だかよく分からないけど凄く燃えてる」	"Ohh, I don't really know what's going out, but it all sounds really passionate!"
Wriggle Nightbug	「と言う訳で…… あんたにこんな事頼むのはちょっと 　やなんだけど、私一人だと絶対ヤバいし…… 私と組 　まない？」	"So... I don't really like to rely on you for anything, but I'll definitely be dead meat alone... Want to team up with me?"
Mystia Lorelei	「いっぱい蟲食べていいなら考えてあげる」	"If you give me a lot of bugs to eat, then I'll think about it."
Wriggle Nightbug	「食べないでー」	"Don't eat them~!"
Mystia Lorelei	「冗談よ、蟲なんかより鰻の方が美味しいもん」	"I'm kidding. Eel is tastier than bugs anyway."
Wriggle Nightbug	「それはそれでうわーん」	"That's still.... Wahhhh!"
Mystia Lorelei	「まあ、どうせやる事がある訳でも無いし、私もあの 　巫女にやられた事もあるし、手伝ってもいいよ」	"Anyway, I'm not doing anything in particular, and I've been punished by that shrine maiden before too, so I'll help you out."
Wriggle Nightbug	「本当！？ 　それじゃあよろしくね！」	"Really!? Let's work well together, then!"
	ミスティアの両手を握り締めて、力いっぱいブンブン振るリグル。 周りを置いてけぼりにする勢いでやる気満々だ。	Wriggle shook Mystia's hand up and down with vigor. Her motivation was more than enough for the both of them.
Mystia Lorelei	「……で、どこかいっぱい蟲がいる木とか知らない？ 　美味しそうな蟲」	"...So, do you know any trees with lots of bugs? Tasty-looking bugs, that is."
Wriggle Nightbug	「ひぇぇ」	"Eek..."
	『妖怪軍団』が結成されました。	"Youkai Army" has been formed.

Reimu Hakurei	「はー暑い暑い」	"Ahh, it's so hot!"
	神社の境内では霊夢が、何時も通り掃き掃除をしていた。 掃き集めるような落葉や埃が積もっているわけでもないのだが、習慣とは恐ろしいもので、とりあえずやっておかないと気が済まないのである。	Reimu was sweeping at the shrine as usual. She didn't actually have to clean up the leaves and dust, but habits can be a strange thing. Besides, she couldn't relax unless she had a broom in her hands.
Marisa Kirisame	「毎日本当にご苦労なこったな」	"Ya sure work hard at that every day."
Reimu Hakurei	「昨日やらなかったら何か落ち着かなくて。 紫の事は 　置いといて、普段やってる事はちゃんとやっておか 　ないと気持ち悪いわ」	"I didn't do it yesterday, and I got so restless. Putting Yukari's thing aside, it just doesn't feel right to not do this every day."
	そう言うと霊夢は竹箒を脇に立てて、もたれる様に重心を箒に移した。 竹箒の先が重みで横に曲がる。	Reimu leaned onto the broom as she spoke, putting most of her weight onto it. The broom started to bend under the stress.
Marisa Kirisame	「おいおい、箒が傷むぜ」	"Watch out, your broom's gonna break."
Reimu Hakurei	「その時はあんたの箒を借りるから」	"I'll just borrow yours then."
Marisa Kirisame	「私の箒は特別製なんだ、掃除なんぞにこいつを貸し 　てやるわけにはいかないな」	"My broom's a special type, ya know. I ain't gonna lend it to no one for sweepin'."
Reimu Hakurei	「あら、私の箒も特別製よ？ 　なんたって霊験新かな 　博麗神社の神具なんだから」	"My, and you think my broom isn't special either? It's a divine tool of the Hakurei Shrine, powered by miraculous virtues."
	……という割には、まるで薙刀の様にブンブン振り回したりしている。 これで叩かれたら御利益の一つでもあるかもしれないが、痛いのは嫌なので魔理沙は箒の届かない所に避難する。	...As she said that, she waved her broom around as if it was a halberd. Perhaps being hit by it would've given the victim the grace of god, but given how painful it looked, Marisa wasn't going to test it.
Reimu Hakurei	「で、今日は何の用？ 　また作戦会議？」	"Oh, what are you here for today? Another strategy meeting?"
Marisa Kirisame	「ああ、まあ会議を開く程の事でも無いんだが…… 　私ら以外に、勢力を結成した連中が出たぜ」	"Yeah, well, it's ain't really somethin' to hold a meetin' for, but... Someone else 'sides us has formed an army."
Reimu Hakurei	「えっ？」	"Ehh?"
	霊夢が驚いて聞き返す。 幻想郷中を巻き込むゲーム、とは言うものの正式に集団を構成しているのは、まだ霊夢達だけだったからだ。	Reimu replied in shock. It may have been a game that was supposed to involve all of Gensokyo, but up till now, Reimu's army had been the only team that was formed.
Marisa Kirisame	「ここから人里と森と、繋いでる道があるだろ。 そこ 　を根城にしてる連中だ。 思い当たる節があるんじゃ 　ないか？」	"There's a path that links here and the Human Village, right? Their stronghold is right there. Ya should be able to guess who it is by now."
Reimu Hakurei	「ううんさっぱり」	"Actually, nope."
Marisa Kirisame	「……まあいいけど、とにかくそこの妖怪連中…… 　リグルとミスティアが組んだらしいぜ」	"...Right, fine. Anyway, it's a buncha youkai... Seems like Wriggle and Mystia gathered 'em."
Reimu Hakurei	「紫の奴…… ほんとに誰彼構わず声を掛けてるよう　 　ね」	"That Yukari... When she said she'd get everyone involved, she really meant everyone."
Marisa Kirisame	「あいつら、あの神社の巫女に一泡吹かせてやるーっ 　て息巻いてるぞ。 よっぽど恨まれてるみたいだが、 　一体何したんだ？」	"They kept shoutin' 'bout gettin' revenge on the shrine maiden at the shrine... They're real bitter 'bout something. Do you have any idea what it is?"
Reimu Hakurei	「別に何もしてないわよ。 見かけたら懲らしめてるく 　らいで」	"Not particularly. I just discipline them whenever I see them."
Marisa Kirisame	「……それだな」	"...That'll do it."
Reimu Hakurei	「何でよ、大体あいつらのせいで参拝客がさっぱりな 　んだから、私の行為は当然の権利だわ」	"What? It's pretty much their fault that I never get any worshippers coming here, so it's my right to punish them."
Marisa Kirisame	「別に何でもいいけどさ、とりあえずあいつらやる気 　満々みたいだから、 放っておいたらあちらさんの方 　から『宣戦布告』してくると思うぜ」	"Not like I care, but they're definitely all fired up 'bout this. If ya leave 'em alone, I'm sure they're gonna 'declare war' on us sooner or later."
Reimu Hakurei	「こっちからも出来るのよね？」	"We can do that too, can't we?"
Marisa Kirisame	「ああ、ルールにはそうあるな。 今はまだ出来ないみ 　たいだが」	"Yep, or so the rules say. Though we can't yet, apparently."
Reimu Hakurei	「どうしてくれようかしら…… この際いい機会だから 　徹底的に懲らしめてあげなくちゃね」	"I wonder why... Anyway, this seems like an excellent chance, so let's give them some thorough punishment when the time comes."
Marisa Kirisame	「……お前と組んだのは正解だったぜ」	"...I'm real glad I joined up with ya."

	『妖怪軍団』を結成し、晴れて紫の考案した『第一回幻想郷陣取り合戦』に参戦を果たしたリグルとミスティア。 ……参戦したはいいものの、具体的にこれからどうするかは、まだ何も考えていなかったのだった。	Wriggle and Mystia had formed the "Youkai Army", and accepted Yukari's invitation to the war game. ...But now that they had joined in the fray, they had no idea what they were supposed to do next.
Mystia Lorelei	「……とりあえず、友達とか知り合いとかの妖怪に声 　掛けて回ったら、皆手伝ってくれるって」	"...Anyway, I called all my friends and other youkai, and they're willing to help out."
Wriggle Nightbug	「そう、それは良かった」	"Yeah, that's nice."
	ミスティアの話もそこそこに、リグルは何やら考えている様子だった。 話を聞き流されたと思ったミスティアが怒り出す。	Wriggle appeared to be thinking deeply. Mystia started to get angry over Wriggle supposedly ignoring her.
Mystia Lorelei	「ちょっとー、私の話聞いてるのー？」	"Hey, are you listening to me?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「え、 あっ、 ごめん、 ちょっと考え事してたから」	"Eh? Ah, sorry... I was thinking about something..."
Mystia Lorelei	「考え事って？」	"About what?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「うん、あのね……」	"Ah, well..."
	そう言うとリグルは、真面目な顔をして仰々しくミスティアの方を向き直った。 何時になく真剣なリグルの様子に、ミスティアも思わず背筋を伸ばす。	Wriggle turned to face Mystia, with the most serious expression she had ever seen on her face. Just a glance at the seriousness of her attitude made Mystia unconsciously straighten her back.
Mystia Lorelei	「ちょ、ちょっと、何よ…… そんなに大事な話なの」	"H-Hey... Is it really that important?"
	リグルが黙って首を縦に振る。 ジッと真っ直ぐ見つめられて、何故かミスティアもドキドキしている。	Wriggle silently nodded. Her stare continued to pierce Mystia like daggers, making her extremely nervous.
Wriggle Nightbug	「実は……」	"Truthfully..."
Mystia Lorelei	「………… ゴクリ」	"...Yeah?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「…………………… 私たちさ、やっぱり決めておかな 　いといけないと思うんだ」	"......... I don't think we can go any further unless we decide it now."
Mystia Lorelei	「き、 決めるって、 何を？」	"D-Decide? Decide what?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「こんな大事な事、何で忘れてたんだろう…… という 　事で、今、決めようか。 リーダーを」	"How could you forget something so important... I'm talking about who the leader will be. Let's decide it now."
	盛大にすっ転ぶ音が聴こえた。	The grand sound of someone falling over could be heard for miles.
Wriggle Nightbug	「ん？　どうかした？」	"Hm? What's wrong?"
Mystia Lorelei	「あんたね…… そんなつまんない事を勿体付けて言わ 　ないでよ！ 　何言い出すのかと思って身構えちゃっ 　たでしょ！」	"You really... Don't make such a stupid thing sound so important! I was bracing myself for something really bad, then you come up with that!?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「つまんない事って何よつまんない事って！ 　とって 　も大事な事でしょ！」	"What!? It isn't stupid at all! It's extremely important!"
	ミスティアの顔が、さっきよりも一際真っ赤になっている。 そんな彼女を尻目にリグルが自論を熱く語り始めた。	Mystia's face was bright red from her exasperation. Wriggle began to talk passionately as she looked Mystia right in the eye.
Wriggle Nightbug	「一匹ではか弱い蟲達も、力を合わせる事で無敵の軍 　団になるのよ！ 　その為には蟲達を纏めるリーダー 　が必要なんだけど、それと同じね」	"Each youkai may be a pitifully weak insect, but if they all work together, they become an invincible army! But they need someone to lead them!"
Wriggle Nightbug	「一対一じゃあの巫女に勝てなくても、リーダーを決 　めて協力し合えば敵じゃなくなるわ！」	"We can't win against the shrine maiden one-on-one, but with everyone's cooperation and if we decide a leader, there won't be anyone who can match us!"
Mystia Lorelei	「……で、どうやってリーダーを決めるのよ」	"...And how will we decide who the leader is?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「そんなの、わざわざ決める事でもないじゃない。 私 　以外に誰がいるのよ」	"There's no need for anything special for that. I'm the only one who can do it after all."
	胸を張り自分を指差すリグルだったが、納得いかないのかミスティアはさらにリグルに噛み付いた。	Wriggle proudly pointed at herself, but Mystia wasn't convinced.
Mystia Lorelei	「そんなどうでもいい事聞かされて、リーダーまであ 　んたなんてちょっと勝手なんじゃないの～？」	"After all that talk about how important a leader is, you're just selfishly trying to make yourself the leader!"
Wriggle Nightbug	「勝手なもんか、 そもそも最初に声を掛けられたのは 　私だし、言い出しっぺも私だし、当然！ 　私がリー 　ダーになるべきでしょ」	"Selfish? I'm the one she contacted, I'm the one who brought it up to you, so obviously, I should be the leader."
Mystia Lorelei	「何よ何よ、大体友達呼んできたのは誰だと思ってん 　のよ！ 　あんた一人じゃ何にも出来ないでしょ」	"So what! I'm the one who got lots of people to join this army! You can't do anything by yourself."
Wriggle Nightbug	「言ったなぁ～！」	"Oh no you didn't!"
Mystia Lorelei	「言ったわよ～！」	"Yeah, I went there!"
	真っ向から睨み合う二人。初っ端から仲間割れしているようでは先が思いやられるというもので、互いに一歩も引く様子を見せない…… と思いきや、あっさり先に引いたのはリグルだった。	Their foreheads clashed as they glared at each other. Both didn't care about a falling out this early in the army's life, and neither looked like yielding an inch... until Wriggle suddenly withdrew her head.
Wriggle Nightbug	「……ふぅ、分かったわよ。 そんなに言うなら公平　 　に、正々堂々ジャンケンで決めよう」	"...Hmph, fine. If you're going to be like that, then let's decide this with a far and impartial round of rock-paper-scissors."
Mystia Lorelei	「ジャンケン……？ 　まあいいわ、受けて立とうじゃ 　ないの」	"Rock-paper-scissors...? Fine, I accept!"
Wriggle Nightbug	「どっちが勝っても恨みっこ無しよ」	"No arguments whoever wins, right?"
Mystia Lorelei	「そっちこそ！」	"Right!"
	お互いに相手に背を向けて、何を出すかを思案し始める。 本来のジャンケンとは、相手の性格や傾向から、より勝率の高い手を模索する高度な心理ゲームと言えるのだが、当然そんな事は望むべくもなく。	They both turned away, backs facing each other, as they tried to predict what each other would do. RPS allows one to attempt to predict the opponent's move by their character, but such things are never foolproof.
	きっとグーを出すからパーで…… いや裏を掻いてチョキが…… いや裏の裏を掻いて…… という風に堂々巡りを始め、最後には両手を組んで隙間を覗き込んだりするのであった。	She'll definitely use rock, so I'll do paper... No, she might use reverse psychology, so scissors... Wait, she might use reverse-reverse psychology, so... Such thoughts swirled in the head of the two competitors.
Mystia Lorelei	「よし、いいわよ！」	"Alright, I'm ready!"
Wriggle Nightbug	「よし、それじゃあいくよ。 　ジャーンケーンポン！」	"Okay, let's do this. Rock! Paper! SCISSORS!"

Mystia Lorelei	「……分かったわよ、好きにしたらいいじゃない」	"...Fine, since you want to be it so much."
	ミスティアは釈然としない様子だったが、一度受けた以上負けたからといって、グダグダと文句を垂れるのもプライドが許さないのか、素直に負けを認めた。	Mystia clearly wasn't satisfied, but she had lost the battle and her pride wouldn't let her grumble too much, so she accepted her defeat.
Wriggle Nightbug	「それじゃあ、これからもよろしくね」	"Alright, let's work well together!"
	それでもやっぱり悔しそうなミスティアを横目に、背中を向け手を振るリグル。 ……ついでに舌も出して。	Wriggle extended her hand towards Mystia, who had her back turned to Wriggle. She gave Wriggle a sideways glance... Then stuck her tongue out.
Wriggle Nightbug	「…………蟲の知らせ、なんてね」	"...Now she knows the power of bugs."

Reimu Hakurei	「で、あいつら今はどうしてんの？」	"So, what's happening with them?"
	あいつら、とは先日結成された『妖怪軍団』のリグルとミスティアの事だ。	She was referring to the Youkai Army formed by Wriggle and Mystia just the other day.
Marisa Kirisame	「あー、あいつらならここと里、森を繋ぐ道に陣取っ 　たぜ」	"Ahh, they've set up their base at the forest road between here and the village."
Reimu Hakurei	「はー、また面倒な所を……」	"*sigh* They're getting in my way again..."
	地図を見ると、霊夢達の支配地域である博麗神社からは、人間の里と繋がる『夜盲の道』と、魔法の森に通じる『ほの冥い細道』へと道が伸びている。 そしてその二箇所は『妖怪軍団』の支配地域となった。	The map revealed that Hakurei Shrine was connected to the "Night-Blind Road" that continued to the Human Village, and the "Faintly Dark Path" that went to the Magic Forest. These were the Youkai Army's territories.
Reimu Hakurei	「……つまり、あいつらをぶっ飛ばさないとどこにも 　行けないって事ね」	"...So in short, we have to take them out before we can go anywhere else."
Marisa Kirisame	「そういう事。 どうあってもお前とやり合いたいみた 　いだな」	"Yep yep. And they're itchin' for a fight against ya as well."
	魔理沙の言葉に、心底迷惑そうな顔をする霊夢。 何でそんな風に狙われなきゃならないのか、さっぱり分からないといった風だ。	Marisa's words darkened Reimu's mood considerably. Why were they so insistent on going for her? That was a question that she couldn't answer herself.
Marisa Kirisame	「何をそんな天神様を噛み潰した様な顔してんだ」	"Ya look like someone just raided the donation box."
Reimu Hakurei	「そりゃあまだ早死にしたくないし。 ま、さっくり倒 　して次行きましょ、次」	"...It's nothing. Let's just beat them up and move on to the next army."
Marisa Kirisame	「そんな簡単にいくかな、あいつらそこらの妖怪連中 　も引っ張ってきたようだぜ」	"Do ya think it'll be that easy? Seems they've got a buncha youkai with 'em too."
Reimu Hakurei	「いつも私に懲らしめられてるような妖怪が、いくら 　徒党を組んだ所で敵じゃないわよ。 蹴散らしてあげ 　るわ」	"They're still youkai I've punished before. No matter how many of them gather together, they're still no match for me. They'll be flattened."
Marisa Kirisame	「……ま、お前がいりゃ大丈夫だろ。 んじゃ飯にしよ 　うぜ」	"...Well, with you around, we'll be okay I s'pose. Alright then, let's eat!"
Reimu Hakurei	「あんたねえ、うちのお勝手使ってもいいから、たま 　にはあんたが何か作りなさいよ」	"You know, if you keep coming over for food so much, you should at least make something every now and then."
Marisa Kirisame	「この世で一番の御馳走は、人に作らせた一杯の味噌 　汁なんだよ」	"The best food in the world is a bowl of miso soup made by someone else."
	魔理沙の言葉を聞いてか聞かずか、霊夢は小さく肩を竦めて屋内へと戻っていった。 別に魔理沙が居なくても自分の分の食事は作らないといけない訳で、結局手間は変わらない。	Reimu simply shrugged her shoulders at Marisa's nonchalance and went back inside the shrine. She still had to prepare her own food even if Marisa wasn't here, so the amount of work was more or less the same anyway.
Marisa Kirisame	「よし、御膳に預かるぜ。 御飯と味噌汁まだ～？ 　あ、味噌汁は白味噌で頼む」	"I'll go set the table! The miso soup ain't ready yet~? Ah, I want mine light brown please!"
Reimu Hakurei	「うるさい！」	"Shut up!"
	『妖怪軍団』に宣戦布告出来るように なりました。	"Youkai Army" is now avaible for war declaration.

	今日もリグルとミスティアの二人は、如何にしてあの憎たらしい博麗の巫女に打ち勝つか、相談を重ねているのであった。	Once again, Wriggle and Mystia gathered to discuss just how to take down that odious Hakurei shrine maiden.
Wriggle Nightbug	「ねえ、一つ思ったんだけど……」	"Hey, I just thought of something..."
Mystia Lorelei	「何？」	"Yeah?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「もうちょっと、仲間を増やした方が良くない？」	"Maybe we should try to recruit a few more allies?"
Mystia Lorelei	「えー、私が呼んできた友達だけじゃ足りないって言 　うのー？」	"Ehh? Are you saying the friends I called aren't good enough for you?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「そういう訳じゃ無いんだけど、ほら、 やっぱり味方 　は多い方がいいかなーと思って」	"That's not what I mean... It's just that, you know, having more allies is always a good thing, don't you think?"
Mystia Lorelei	「そりゃそうだけど、私だってそんなにいっぱいは連 　れてこれないよ」	"That's kinda true, but I don't have that many youkai I can call over..."
Wriggle Nightbug	「うーん……」	"Hmm..."
	集団戦は当然頭数が多い方が有利な訳だが、かといって誰でも片っ端から引き込む訳にも行かず、妖怪選に苦慮しているという所だった。	While battles would no doubt be easier with more youkai to participate, it would be unreasonable to assume that everyone would want to join. The Youkai Army had now reached a difficult point.
Wriggle Nightbug	「興味の無い妖怪に、無理にお願いする訳にもいかな 　いしなあ」	"We can't really plead those who aren't interested into joining, huh..."
Mystia Lorelei	「誰か、暇そうにしてるのを無理やり引っ張ってくる 　とか……」	"Maybe there are some bored youkai who we can force to join in..."
Wriggle Nightbug	「だから無理矢理じゃ駄目だって」	"We shouldn't use force."
Mystia Lorelei	「私の歌を聴かせて……」	"If they listen to my song..."
Wriggle Nightbug	「一緒じゃないの！」	"That's essentially the same!"
Mystia Lorelei	「ひどーい」	"So mean!"
	……とまあこんな具合に、あれこれ話し合ってはみるものの元々頭を使う事は得意でない二人。 結局何にも決まる事無くグダグダと時間だけが過ぎていくのであった…… が。	...To be perfectly honest, neither of these two were truly smart enough to have a worthwhile discussion. In the end, they wasted time without deciding on anything, until...
Wriggle Nightbug	「ん？ 　……ちょっと、あんた何かした？」	"Hm? ...Hey, what did you just do?"
Mystia Lorelei	「何もしてないよー」	"I didn't do anything!"
	日差しが何かに遮られて、二人の周囲に影が出来る。 影の周りは日で明るく、明らかに不自然な影はゆっくりと少しずつ移動していた。 ふと空を見上げると、そこにも同じような円盤状の影が一つ。	Something was obstructing the sun's rays, casting a shadow on the ground nearby. It unnaturally moved slowly towards them, still surrounded by brightness. A look upwards revealed a similar disc-shaped shadow.
Mystia Lorelei	「何あれ、未確認飛行物体？」	"Is that one of those 'Unidentified Flying Objects' thingies?"
	ミスティアが空中に上がり、影に近づく。 真横まで来て見てみると、円盤と思ったものは綺麗な球状の黒い塊で、中の様子は全く伺えない。	Mystia took to the skies and tried to get closer to the shadow. She looked at it from right beside it, realizing that it was a pretty sphere of black rather than a disc, but she couldn't see within at all.
Wriggle Nightbug	「ちょっと、あんまり近づくと危ないよ」	"Hey, be careful, getting too close might be dangerous."
Mystia Lorelei	「うーん、気になる気になるわ。 ……えいっ」	"Yeah, I'll be careful."
	恐る恐る手を伸ばして、影の中に手を突っ込んでみる。 すると手は何の抵抗も無くするりと中に入り、やはりその部分は外からは見えなくなった。 手を戻すと、光に当たって元通りちゃんと見える。	She timidly extended her hand, and it disappeared into the shadows. Her hand met no resistance as it went in, but she couldn't see it anymore. She pulled her hand back out, and it looked the same as ever.
Mystia Lorelei	「うわー何これ、気持ちわるーい」	"Uwah, this is really weird!"
Wriggle Nightbug	「大丈夫ー？」	"Are you okay?"
Mystia Lorelei	「うん、何ともないよーほらほらー」	"Yeah, I'm fine. See?"
	影の中に何度も腕を突っ込むミスティア。 段々奥まで突っ込むようになり、肘の辺りまで見えなくなった所で、指の先が何かに当たった。	Mystia pushed her hand in and out of the darkness several times, gradually going deeper and deeper, until the point where her elbow was hidden... then her fingertips hit something.
Mystia Lorelei	「うわっ！？」	"Gah!?"
	慌てて腕を引き抜く。 指先には何も付いたりはしていなかったが、何かに触れた感触は残っていた。	She hurriedly pulled her arm out. There was nothing at her fingertips, but the sensation of touching something remained.
Wriggle Nightbug	「どうしたの？」	"What's wrong?"
Mystia Lorelei	「な、何か中にあるよー」	"T-There's something inside!"
	中と言われても外からは見えない。 ……すると、ゆっくり動いていた黒い塊がその動きを止めた。	But nobody could see what it was from the outside. ...The black sphere then stopped it's slow movement.
Mystia Lorelei	「…………ゴクリ」	"...Huh?"
	……その時、身構えて様子を伺うミスティアの耳に何かが聴こえてきた。	...Mystia was on her guard, when she suddenly heard an inquiring voice.
？？？	「んもー、さっきから何よーうるさいなー」	"Boo, you all've been so loud for awhile now~."
Mystia Lorelei	「わっ、喋った！」	"Wha!? It spoke!?"
？？？	「今触ったの誰よー…… もう、眩しいからやなんだけ 　どなあ」	"Who touched me just now... Boo, I don't wanna make it all bright, but..."
	そう聴こえてきたかと思うと、それまでは全く光を通さなかった影が、少しずつ薄くなってきた。 やがて、向こうが透けて見える程の濃度となり、球体の中心に人影が浮かぶ。	As she spoke, the sphere of darkness weakened slightly. It eventually weakened enough to see inside, revealing the figure floating at the center of the sphere.
Mystia Lorelei	「え、あんた誰？」	"Ehh? Who're you?"
？？？	「気持ちよくふよふよしてたのに、それを邪魔するあ 　んたこそだーれ？」	"You're the one who interrupted me floating around, huh? It felt so good, too..."
Mystia Lorelei	「えっと…… 妖怪？」	"Uh... You're a youkai?"
？？？	「そうよー、私はルーミアって言うの。 で、何か私に 　用？」	"Yeaaah, my name's Rumia. So what do you want?"
	ふわふわと地上まで降りてくるルーミア。 薄暗くてちょっと見辛いが、困るという程でも無いので何も言わなかった。	Rumia slowly floated downwards onto the ground. It was still a bit hard to see through the darkness surrounding her, but not hard enough to be worth complaining about.
Wriggle Nightbug	「んと、私はリグル。 あっちはミスティア。いきなり 　暗くなったから何かと思ったら、真っ黒いのが飛ん 　でたから気になって」	"Well, I'm Wriggle. And she's Mystia. We were just investigating why it turned dark all of a sudden, and why a giant cloud of darkness was flying around.
Rumia	「あー、そうだったんだ。 暑くて日差し避けに暗くし 　てるだけだから、気にしないでー。 ほんと、暑いと 　何にもする気になれないわ」	"Ahh, is that so?" Don't worry, I just make it dark so that the sun doesn't make me feel warm. I really don't feel like doing anything when it's hot."
Mystia Lorelei	「そういや何してたの？ 　あんな真っ暗な中で」	"What were you doing inside that darkness, then?"
Rumia	「だから何にもしてないよ。 真っ暗だから何にも見え 　ないし、ただふよふよしてただけ」	"I wasn't doing anything. I couldn't see anything since it was so dark, so I just floated 'round and 'round."
Wriggle Nightbug	「……………………」	"......"
	どこか抜けた返事に一抹の不安を感じながらも、リグルの触覚センサーがビビっと反応した。	Her reply seemed a little strange, but Wriggle's feelers were tingling with excitement.
Wriggle Nightbug	「……暇なの？」	"...Are you free?"
Rumia	「まあ、暇って言うか、暇な事に忙しいって言うか」	"Well, I'm sort of busy with being free, kinda..."
	……リグルの眼がキラリと光る。	...Wriggle's eyes began to twinkle.
Wriggle Nightbug	「じゃあさ、私達と一緒に遊ばない？」	"Do you want to play with us, then?"
Mystia Lorelei	「ちょ、ちょっと」	"Hey, wait!"
Rumia	「遊ぶって？」	"Play what?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「陣取り合戦」	"A war game."
Rumia	「合戦？　誰と？」	"A war game? Against who?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「主に人間と」	"Mostly humans."
Rumia	「食べてもいいの？」	"Can I eat them?"
Wriggle Nightbug	「えーと、多分駄目」	"Um, probably not."
Rumia	「えー」	"Boo..."
Wriggle Nightbug	「まあまあ、どうせする事無いなら手伝ってよー。 私 　達はあなたの力を必要としているわ！」	"C'mon, you're not doing anything anyway, so help us out! We really need your power!"
	『必要としてる』 ……何だかよく分からなかったが、頼られているという事は分かったので、ルーミアはちょっとだけ得意になった。	"Need"... Rumia didn't understand why exactly her power was necessary, but she at least knew someone was requesting her help for something, which made her feel a little proud.
Rumia	「ん～、まあどうしてもって言うなら別にいいけど」	"Hmm~, I guess it's fine then."
Wriggle Nightbug	「そう、ありがとう！ 　それじゃあよろしくね」	"All right! Thanks! Let's work well together from now on!"
	ガッチリ交わされる握手。 そして一人取り残されるミスティア。	They exchanged handshakes, leaving Mystia sighing in their wake.
Mystia Lorelei	「もう、また勝手に決めてぇ」	"Geez, you're leaving me out of the decisions again."
Wriggle Nightbug	「まあまあ…… んじゃあルーミア、早速なんだけど、 　ちょっと暗くしてくれないかな。 昼間は日差しがき 　つくて……」	"Aw, c'mon... Anyway Rumia, this is a bit quick, but let's see your power at work. This afternoon sun is really too strong..."
Rumia	「はーい」	"okaaaay."
Wriggle Nightbug	「わあ、くら～い」	"Wow, so dark!"
Mystia Lorelei	「すずし～い」	"And so cooling~!"
	妖怪は基本的に夜を好む。 ルーミアの作り出す闇は、そんな妖怪たちにとって安息の場となるのだ。 そんな訳で、三人は当初の目的を忘れて、真っ暗闇の中でゴロゴロするのだった。	Most youkai prefer the night over broad daylight. The darkness Rumia generated made the area a resting place for these youkai. Thus, the three of them forgot their original objective, and relaxed in the darkness.
Rumia	が加わりました。	Rumia has joined.
