About Seihou[]

Seihou (西方) is a series of games related to the Touhou series that ZUN helped with, while not being created by him directly. the Seihou series is produced by former members of Amusement Makers who later formed Syunsatsu Sare Do and RebRank. Seihou means "western," as opposed to Touhou, which means "eastern."

Additional Information[]

ZUN produced some of the art and music in Shuusou Gyoku, the first game in the series. He also composed the music for and contributed a small amount of art to Kioh Gyoku.

The three games in the series are Shuusou Gyoku, Kioh Gyoku, and Banshiryuu. Samidare is a seihou game in spirit, though it is not actually part of the series.

Several Touhou characters have made appearances in the Seihou games, such as Reimu Hakurei and Marisa Kirisame in Shuusou Gyoku, as well as Yuuka in Kioh Gyoku. Additionally, in the game Samidare, a certain area in the Extra stage is dedicated to Touhou, as the midboss battle is a reference to the Stage 4 boss battle in Mystic Square, as they act like Yuki and Mai (as well, you can faintly see Yuki and Mai in the boss sprites; they are little more than spheres of light, but when they stop moving, the pair of magicians become briefly visible).
