Given Marisa's large affinity with stars, fans sometimes parody her crossing over with Jotaro Kujo of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, although to a MUCH lesser extreme than that of Youmu and Sakuya getting crossed over with characters from that series. This seems to be a result of Jotaro's stand being called "Star Platinum", along with ZUN's rather heavy amount of references to that series already and Marisa in some works even quotes Jotaro's catchphrase "Yare yare da ze".
In the multiplayer game League of Legends, "Lux Crownguard" was created by a staff member who happened to be a Touhou fan. Lux borrows plenty of traits from Marisa; She has an ultimate spell called "Finales Funkeln" which roughly translates from German as "Final Sparkle". In the lore of the game, Lux is also known to have copied and used the spell "Dark Binding" from Morgana. She also has a skin that resembles a cross between Mima and Marisa. In one of her voice over lines she states- "Light mage? I'm just an ordinary mage." Marisa has no known siblings however, while Lux has a brother, Garen.
After Riot Games changed "Finales Funkeln" to "Infinite Light" and subsequent backlash from the LoL community, Lux's ultimate was re-renamed "Final Spark" in order to preserve the reference to Marisa's Final Spark.
In most fan comics, or fan arts, Marisa always says, "Ze", at the end of the sentence, a masculine sentence ender.
Her personality, blond hair, and tendency to end sentences in "ze" or "da ze" makes her similar to Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury and The King of Fighters on the two former traits, while all three traits tie her more closely to Ken Masters from the popular Street Fighter series, while in the SNK vs. Capcom crossovers, one of Ken's intros has him saying "Ore no deban da ze!" ("Now it's my turn!")
Because of this, she is also sometimes seen in fanworks as a famous thief, stealing also from Alice Margatroid and many other residents of Gensokyo.
One fan-version of Marisa, called Cho-Marisa, is depicted with huge, bulging muscles and a very masculine face. Sometimes, Cho-Marisa is actually fully male. In either case, Cho-Marisa is sometimes nicknamed "MANrisa."
