Synopsis

As one of the 2 main characters in this game she has high specs. and good character abilities to back them up with. In the game, her Persuasion needle which can be used at extensive ranges without any limitations (except for its overwhelming ammo count of 15). In Super Robot Wars Lingo, she would be considered the "Real type" centered around evading enemy attacks and hitting them back with minuscule, but accurate attacks. (In the Super Robot Wars Series, the Gundam and Macross types, LFOs, R-1, Weiss Riter...etc. are considered "real types")
The only downside to her in the game is due to her status decrease on maps considered "Night". (You can get rid of this demerit by using items.)
Also, her low HP and armor makes any hit a devastating damage to her so power up her mobility to prevent this.

Synopsis

The other main character of the game. If it were the traditional Super Robot Wars series, she would have been the "Super Type" main character ("Super types" are the type that have sturdy defense and inaccurate but powerful attacks. Such as Mazinger, Getter, Raideen, Ideon, Zeorymer, Dancouger...etc.) but, she lacks the armor to be one. Yet, when in comparison with Reimu, she lacks the additional evasive skills that Reimu has, so trying to use her like as either of those types may get Marisa shot out of the skies.

  • Super robot wars fan say Marisa is ZZ or Z Gundam without transformation option...

The significance Marisa has in this game is that all of her attacks get an attack bonus with Marisa's Magician Level, Thus her Master Spark shot at maximum power has the highest attack within all of your allies in Red (This and the fact that she learns Hot blood/Valor). Perhaps the best way to use Marisa is by closing in on small fries before they can use Danmaku and increase your power so you can fire the Master Spark to Bosses outside of their range.

Synopsis

The first ally you'll meet in Reimu's route. Since in "Red" the moon doesn't become full so you won't see her in Hakutaku form, but she would still be your main damage source and boss killer earlier on in the game.
Since she can take many hits, get many hits through, and get some additional headbutts in with her allies since she has a default "Support attack" on her, she can easily become your top ace. (Speaking in terms of SRW OG, she's Irm that comes in at the very beginning with a free Support L1.)
Her Power (The moral in the traditional SRW) gains are also very useful for that purpose too.
The only problem that Keine might experience is her slow movement, lack of range, and low MP.
These problems may make her a tad bit troublesome to use, but it really is no demerit to her since all units are affected with "movement-X%" by enemy danmaku when they are in high speed mode (High speed and low speed modes, and danmaku mentioned under game play ...coming sometime later...) and the low MP can be overcome with increasing her default MP.
These "problems" can also very easily be used as an asset if you equip Keine with "Support defense" to take your allies hits, and deal high output support attacks.
This also works very well with her Waifu ability to increase the exp of the ones who start the attack. (Who will always be right next to her)
All in all, Keine is with such a high potential and strong basics that game play with and without her would be on two completely different levels of difficulty.

Synopsis

Joining Marisa on the very first chapter of her route, Nitori is almost everything that Marisa lacks. Although her extending arm may not be cost efficient by its self, she has her cucumbers to make up for it, as well as the support skills that she has by default. (Her kind will and friendliness could be expressed in this game by her support oriented abilities)
Since she also learns the command "Guard" very quickly she can survive heavy attack in place for her friends.
Her support attack also comes in great handy since she has attacks in all ranges.
The routine of an agile unit attacking, Nitori supporting and taking damage is something that you should get used to if you expect to get anywhere in harder difficulties.
Nitori excels in the water, which is only natural for a Kappa, but unfortunately, there are only 2 stages (13 in total) which have water in them... Too bad Nitori....
Also, as a unit that guards and supports, Nitori barely ever dodges so be prepared to suffer some damage when going in to the front lines.

Synopsis

Blessed with high accuracy coming from high skill, Alice is a perfect character to hit and evade with.
Since Alice is already a strong enough character, there's not much to state about how she should be used or how she should be raised... but adding Tipsy (Default Power+5, requires 60 graze points) to Alice's ability so that she can use Artful Sacrifice from the very first turn would be a great benefit.
If you have the points to do so, adding on Support attack after that also looks like a good plan.
The only thing Alice can't stand is getting hit, so to make sure this doesn't happen by all means necessary.
Also, the dolls that appear by her ability are regarded as individual units, Similarly to how summoners can summon skeletons in Fire Emblems, Sacred Stones.
The only differences are that; while Alice can summon multiple dolls at once, each doll will eat on your budget if they get shot down.

Synopsis

As the typical sword wielder, Youmu has the highest Melee stat in your party. Her armor rating is unusually high for possessing a high mobility rating as well. Youmu's Meditation Slash is the second most powerful attack in your party, next to Marisa's Master Spark.
However, it should be noted that Youmu only has one ranged attack, and the other two of her attacks have to be close-range in order to use it. This is only a noticeable penalty where enemies have thick barrages that limit movement. Everywhere else, Youmu's Accel Seishin can close the gap between enemies.
It is recommended to give her a pair of Tengu Clogs to allow her to close gaps easier.

Synopsis

Rumia is one of the first characters that join your party to appear as an enemy. Her usefulness lies in her unique character ability, Shade, which reduces incoming Ⓛ attacks by 1000. This allows her to possess a natural tankiness and ends up becoming a good distraction from bosses. She is especially useful in Stage 9: Trap on the Great Library, where Patchouli and her Grimoires display a large amount of Ⓛ attacks. Rumia is also known for her unique S-Rank on Night terrain, which is especially useful in the first installment, where the later stages that take place outside exhibit night terrain.
As a unit, she possesses a low damage cap, at 2300 with Night Bird, and also has the lowest Skill stat in your party. Rumia also has an Optimistic personality, allowing her to gain Power a lot faster than your other party members. These qualities allow her to become a good candidate for Random Dodge as well as Predict and Belief. Another good skill to spend her Graze on is Tipsy, because her Night Bird attack requires 105 Power when she starts with 100.

Daiyousei

Synopsis

It is easy to say that Daiyousei will be one of your most valued units in your party, as she possesses the 'Heal' command that can heal your units for a small cost of MP. This way, healing is virtually unlimited and the Seishin 'Trust' can now be saved for more dire situations. Staying true to the role of a support, she has a 'Support Defense' skill that can protect others that are low on health. Daiyousei also has four inventory slots. It is assumed that those slots are meant to hold consumable items to use on allies, since she will not be in combat very much.
She is however, like most clerics in RPGs, extremely vulnerable to attacks, so it is a good idea to keep her out of harm's way due to her average mobility rating. The only thing that's allowing her to dodge attacks so easily is her size 'SS', although if she is hit, that size rating only increases that damage. Therefore, it is best if you use her 'Support Defense' rather sparingly because she lacks the ability to heal herself, with the exception of 'Trust'.
It is strongly recommended to put at least 20 WP into her 「嫁」 ability for 'Purity', because flying around depletes MP pretty fast.

Cirno

Synopsis

Cirno is a naturally weak and flimsy unit with low HP, low Armor, and low damage, whose only damage that is noticeable comes from attacks that can only be performed pre-movement. This is because she's a fairy.
However, she has a size of 'SS', giving her a great dodge rate complemented by her medium-high mobility rating. This allows her to go right into the fray knowing that most enemies would most probably miss her. Also because of her low HP, bosses would attack her first out of all your other units (assuming they're at full HP). This is sightly a good thing because it draws aggro toward a unit with high dodge. There are times where Cirno would get hit however, and it could leave you at low HP, or kill you; so remember it is a bit risky. If she is left at low HP, her 'HP Regen (S)' ability would let her take a breather before attacking again, allowing Daiyousei heal someone else instead of Cirno. This is because she's a fairy.
Her Seishin 'Grit' is pretty much useless against large amounts of enemies. But when bossing, it can be a good life-insurance when targeted. After all, it wears off after one attack instead of one turn.
