 始めまして、かどうかはこの本を手に取った人に対しては微妙ですがZUNです。
絵も漫画も描かない私ですが、今回この様にスペース戴き有難うございます。
 一応説明しておくと、私は東方の最も熱烈なファンの一人なのです:-P

 さて東方、楽しんで頂けてるみたいで嬉しい限りです。
 STGと言うゲームの性質上、かなり圧縮された内容になってしまっているのですが、
良く復元出来るものだなぁと思いながら見させて頂いてます。>二次創作作者様
 その豊かな想像力は私の予想を超えてます。もう創作物を受け入れるだけは時代遅れ
なのも知れませんね。
 遺物を見てあらゆる事柄を想像するのが知的歴史ゲームだとすれば、ゲームの二次創
作は想像力豊かな方が参加出来る知的創作ゲームって事になるのでしょう。さらにその
作品には創作者がどういう価値観を持っているかが表れている様で、これを想像する事
が私の三次ゲームとなっています。
 ゲームを創る事を楽しんで、それをユーザー様にゲームと創作の二度も楽しんで貰っ
て、さらに私が三次ゲームで楽しめるなんて、想像を超えた素敵な事じゃないですか。
  人間(じんかん)至る所にゲームあり、ですね。
 もっともっと今までに無く不思議で素敵なシューティングゲームになる様、私も祈っ
ています。御利益の少なそうな神社で。なのでお賽銭は入れませんが・・・

This might be strange to say to people who receive this book, nice to meet you, this is ZUN.
Although I can't draw pictures or manga, I would still like to use this space to thank you.
  To introduce myself, I am Touhou's #1 most passionate fan. :-P

  Now, about Touhou. It would seem that it has been enjoyed, which makes me extremely happy.
  When I saw and received all these works, I thought that while it may not have the nature of 
a STG game, or while it may have the substance of the game compressed, that they're all still 
excellent works. > To the makers of the derivative works
  That abundance of imagination far exceeded my expectations. Perhaps it's old-fashioned to 
just receive them.
  Just as historical relics evokes thoughts on all sorts of affairs and circumstances when 
looking at them, becoming an intellectual history game, derivative works require exercising 
plenty of imagination, becoming an intellectual creation game. And trying to imagine the values 
that these derivative works creators hold and manifest in their works, makes it a 
second-derivative game for me.
  Games were created to be enjoyed, so with users receiving and enjoying these works and games, 
and myself enjoying my second-derivative game, isn't exceeding the powers of imagination such a 
wonderful thing?
   Wherever there is man, there are games, huh.
  I shall also pray for more and more, even stranger and more wonderful shooting games to be 
created. At this shrine which seems to be lacking in God's grace. By the way, would you like to 
donate?...

今日で漸く四日目だ。

あいつはいつも一日早いと言うが、とんでもない。
普通仕事を依頼した日が一日目だろ? 次の日は二日目だ。

もう今日で三回、夜の読書をした、だから今日は四日目だ。
 ——またあいつはまた一日早いっていうんだろうが、な。

もう始めましてでいいやのZUNです。
いつも東方で遊んでいただき、真に有難うございます。
この本が出る頃には永夜抄も恐らくもう出ている筈で、きっと一安心(希望)。
たいしたストーリーもない只の弾幕STGが、他人の創作の動機になれるなんて
考えてもいませんでした。
ただ遊んで終わり、ああよく出来てたな、なゲームが増えてきた中、プレイす
る事が二次や別の一次創作の意欲に、また二次創作から二次創作に、そして私
の創作意欲へと繋がっていく創作の連鎖を生む事が出来た事は、本当に皆様の
おかげと、ほんの少しの奇跡だと思っています。
ゲームは少年犯罪などの悪影響を与えるとよく言われます。当たり前の事です
ね。本当は影響を与える事が当たり前なのです。勿論、ゲームが与える影響は
悪い方だけではありません。遊んだ人に良い影響を与えられるゲームが、本当
の良い作品なのです。
ゲームから(悪)影響を奪ってしまえば、突き詰めるとただ売り逃げの、売れ
た勝ちのゲームを作れば良いんですから……
           東方? ああ、かなり悪影響を与えるゲームですね。

Normally the day you request the work is the first day, no? The day after would be the second 
day.

And today's already the third time she's reading books at night, so it's the fourth day.
   ---Wonder if she's gonna say I'm a day too early, again.

Thank you truly for always receiving and playing Touhou.
When this book comes out, Imperishable Night should be released as well, so that'll be a
relief. (I hope)
It's just a normal danmaku shooting game without much of a story, so I didn't really think
about trying to generate derivative works from others.
But seeing people who finish playing, think that it was made well, then as the games increase,
others play through and receive the desire to create derivative works or other normal works,
then derivative works based off these derivative works are made, and all these works that were
given life and linked to my original desire to create works, I believe it's a minor miracle, 
which everyone helped make.
It's often said that games are a bad influence and lead to juvenile crime. This is pretty
obvious, isn't it. It's obvious that games do influence people. But naturally, the influence 
that games have isn't only bad. A game that's a good influence to people who play it, is truly 
a good product.
If you take away the (bad) influence from games, then logically it would become all about
profits, and therefore games will be made with only wanting to sell it in mind...
		Touhou? Ahh, it's a game series with a considerably bad influence.

 随分と東方が大きくなって、色々な事の真似事を楽しめる様になりました。
お陰様で今年はかなり充実した年です。有り難うございます。
 基本的にユーザーの事を余り考えていない作品ばかりで申し訳ないのですが、
それは同人と商業を無関係で考えたいと思っているからです。
 そうでないと、商業と変わらないか、一方的に商業を嫌ってしまうのか、
どちらかになってしまうでしょう。それではどちらも作品を見る目が養わ
れていない、と考えています。そんな考えじゃ、人生楽しくないでしょ?
 それではコンゴトモヨロシク。

  Touhou has gotten so large, and all it's forms of make-believe have been enjoyed. 
Thanks to everyone, it's been a very fulfilling year. Thank you very much.
  There's an inexcusably large amount of products that fundamentally do not think 
about the user, but I'd like to think that this is unrelated as to whether the
product is a doujin or commercial one.
  If it wasn't, and the commercial side doesn't change, a dislike for the commercial
side would fester, but that would be a burden carried by both sides. And some might
think of trying to cultivate a discerning eye as to which is which. Thinking like that
wouldn't make life very fun, would it?
  Well then, best regards for next time as well.
