Jealousy Sign "Green-Eyed Monster"


Othello Act 3, scene 3, 165–171: Based on Shakespeare's play "Othello", where Iago advices Othello that jealousy is like a "green-ey'd monster."

Comment: Jealousy and Envy.

The two emotions that can make a monster out of anyone. Don't fall into its trap.

Stage 2 — Lunatic
Comment: Greed and envy that threaten to drag you down even as you run.

Well, you know what they say. If someone makes you envious, drench them in curtain fire.

Grandfather Cherry Blossom: A famous Japanese folklore.

Comment: Solitary swaths of flowers blossom before your eyes.

They wither in four phases, though. Perhaps Parsee needs to speak with Yuyuko?

Comment: Solitary swaths of flowers are now joined by rings of green bullets.

These flowers are not meant to be decorative, but traps.

Shiro: A dog in Grandfather Cherry Blossom, meaning "White".

Comment: A swath of flowers blooms in both directions.

Cherry blossoms, in the underground? Parsee does wish for the impossible. Shouldn't she be able to leave this place?

Comment: The cherry blossoms miraculously cover the horizon thanks to the presence of a virtuous soul.

Needlessly to say, that soul is not Parsee's. Or Marisa's. Or Reimu's, probably.

The Tongue-Cut Sparrow: A famous Japanese folklore.

Comment: You are offered your choice of targets: one that shoots small bullets, and one that shoots larger bullets.

If you understand the story of the sparrow, you know which one offers rewards if shot.

Comment: You are offered your choice of targets: one that shoots small bullets, and one that shoots larger bullets.

Choosing poorly could be fatal. Perhaps you should hold your fire until you know which is which?

That's not to say one is more or less dangerous than the other if you are not careful. Sparrows are not fools.

Ushino-koku Mairi (丑の刻参り): A way of cursing in Japan.

Stage 2 — Easy
Comment: An unsteady array of shots that dissolve to ghost fire.

Move slightly, and the curses have no power on you; instead blowing back onto Parsee, how appropriate.

Comment: An unsteady array of shots that dissolve to phantom fire.

Perhaps it would be best not to move much? The words of this jealous fiend cannot mean much.
